Kohli's move up the order was necessitated by a string of low scores for Anuj Rawat, who made 66 against Mumbai Indians and 63 in seven other innings as Faf du Plessis's opening partner. Bangar said the move to have Kohli return to his opening slot was a means to have their best batsmen get into the game early.
A consequence of Kohli batting in the top-order and being out of form has a cascading effect on the rest of the RCB line-up, resulting in low totals the kinds of which RCB have succumbed to in the last two games.
